Natural Dog Sunscreen

All Natural Dog Sunscreen

Summer is here and it’s hot hot hot!

Our Natural Dog Sunscreen is a must for the dogs with fair skin, little or no fur and/or pink noses.

Most dogs love sunbathing, and like us, they need protection.  Natural Dog Sunscreen from the Itchy ‘n Scratchy range is a perfect non toxic cream for dogs with little or no fur and especially good for dogs with pink noses.

Rub a little onto your dogs bare spots a couple of times a day and they will be protected from harsh UVA and UVB sun rays.

The ingredients in this natural sunscreen are Organic and natural so are perfectly safe for your pooch.

Please note that this sunscreen must not be used on cats as it contains essential oils. Some essential oils are toxic to cats, such as peppermint oil. Check out this page for essential oils that are OK for cats and ones that are not.

Ingredients in our Natural Sunscreen

Manuka Hydrosol, Sesame Seed Oil, Carrot Seed Oil, Aloe Vera Gel, Coconut Oil, Titanium Dioxide, Geogard Ultra, Emulsifying Wax, Essential Oils of Lavender, Peppermint, Carrot Seed, Myrhh, Patchouli, Helichrysum italicum

Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe Vera is used in beauty products because it’s rich in Vitamin C, E and beta-carotene.

Carrot seed essential oil

Carrot seed essential oil stimulates the growth of new cells and tissues. It is good for the skin and protects it from developing wrinkles.

Carrot Seed Oil

Compared to other essential oils, the carrot seed oil is one of the most powerful skin rejuvenators and detoxifiers.

Coconut Oil (Virgin Organic)

Coconut oil is one of nature’s best wonders. It moisturises the skin, controls acnes, cleanses skin, fades blemishes, slows down skin ageing and treats skin allergies.

Emulsifying Wax

This enables water and oil to mix together.

GeoGard Ultra

It’s commonly used in beauty products for it’s ability to act as a preservative.

Helichrysum italicum

Helichrysum essential oil contains special properties that make it an antioxidant, an antibacterial and anti fungal.

Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint is used to cool and soothe the skin to prevent excess itching with the added benefit of keeping the mosquitoes away!

Lavender Essential Oil

Relieves skin inflammation and itching. Lavender helps to heal burns, scars and insect bites.

Manuka Hydrosol

Hydrosols are produced by distilling plant materials through steam. When producing essential oils, some essential compounds are dissolved, and the condensed fragrant steam becomes hydrosols.

The hydrosols contain some drops of the essential oil and water-soluble plant properties. These agents are all non-irritating and anti-inflammatory, which makes them good on sensitive skin and can be used for both pets and humans.

Manuka hydrosol is ideal for animal care. The Manuka plant’s natural antiseptic and antibacterial properties help with the healing of cuts, rashes, infections and abrasions. It also helps repel some flying insects from the affected area. Please note that Manuka and Kanuka Hydrosol is not suitable to be used on cats.

Manuka essential oil is full of natural compounds that make it so desirable in the treatment of a broad spectrum of conditions, studies have proven that Manuka contains the following properties:

  • Antibacterial
  • Anti-fungal
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Antiseptic
  • Antimicrobial
  • Antihistamine
  • Relaxant

Is an anti-inflammatory and kills bacterial.

Patchouli oil

Has long been used in traditional Asian medicine, especially in Malaysia, China and Japan. It is used to treat skin and hair problems, such as dermatitis, eczema, acne, dry chapped skin, dandruff, and oily scalp. It also has wound healing and scar reducing properties.

Sesame oil

Is rich in essential fatty acids like linoleic acid and palmitic acids. It is linoleic acid that gives both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties for sesame oil.  Sesame oil is rich in antioxidants, hence they are easily absorbed into the skin, nourishes it from deep inside and promotes skin softness.

Titanium dioxide

Inert earth mineral used as a thickening, whitening, lubricating, and sunscreen ingredient in cosmetics. It protects skin from UVA and UVB radiation and is considered no risk of skin sensitivity. Because its gentle, titanium dioxide is a great sunscreen active for sensitive, redness-prone skin. Titanium dioxide is considered safe.
