Manuka and Kanuka Hydrosol

Manuka and Kanuka are both known for their natural antibacterial and antifungal properties and have been used for centuries by Maori as a natural remedy. Hydrosol is produced during the steam extraction of Manuka and Kanuka essential oil. Hydrosols are especially good to use on animals as they contain minute amounts of essential oils which are great for animals with sensitive skins.

Kanuka and Manuka have similar properties, though Kanuka is also known as an anti-inflammatory.

Lavender is considered to have a variety of benefits for dogs and is especially noted for the

following properties:

  • Help calm dogs that are fearful, agitated, hyperactive or anxious.
  • Repels fleas and ticks
  • Provides relief when applied to dry, itchy skin.
  • Effective in controlling doggy odour

As well as repelling fleas and ticks cedarwood has a relaxing effect on dogs and supports healthy skin.

Lemongrass oil is well-known to repel insects like fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes, due to its high citral and geraniol content. Not only will it keep those ticks and fleas away, but it can also improve the condition of your dog’s skin.

Peppermint essential oil helps to stimulate circulation which can benefit your dog’s skin and coat.

A well-known natural flea repellent. Citronella comes from the lemongrass family which is why it smells so bright, but it’s actually that same smell that wards off the insects.

Eucalyptus is also well-known for its numerous benefits, and is especially noted for the following properties:

  • Flea control: helps to repel these parasites.
  • Skin therapy: It can be useful to heal the skin after minor insect bites, stings, and skin rashes.
  • Its disinfectant properties can be useful for minor skin rashes and abrasions.
  • Eucalyptus can also be very effective against pet odour.

Neem Oil

Great for dogs who have itchy skin. Neem oil has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory qualities and is widely used on both humans and animals. Is also an excellent natural insect repellent.

Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E is great for your dog’s skin and coat health.

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil improves dogs’ coats and helps alleviate mild skin irritations.

Olive Oil

Just like it’s good for our hair when our scalp gets dry and itchy, it is also good for dogs, it moisturises and helps to relieve dry flaky skin.

Jojoba Oil

One of the best treatments for dry skin is jojoba oil. Jojoba oil is a liquid wax produced

inside the seeds of the jojoba plant. It is renowned for its moisturising and skin healing

properties in humans and dogs alike. This emollient substance can soothe your dog’s skin,

unclog his hair follicles and leave his fur as soft as a young pup’s.

Castor Oil

Castor oil is effective for soothing mild skin problems, it is a natural flea and tick repellent.

Canola Oil

Canola oil has an oleic acid content similar to olive oil but also has a higher linoleic acid content. This produces an extremely conditioning and moisturising soap with a creamy lather.
