The prey model diet is a raw feeding approach that aims to mimic the diet of wild animals by feeding cats and dogs a combination of raw meat, bones, and organs. A typical prey model diet blend of venison, kangaroo & lamb tripe may contain the following:

Wild Venison:

  1. Venison is a particularly good source of high-quality protein, with all of the essential amino acids that your body needs.
  2. A good source of iron and zinc, which are important for healthy red blood cells and immune function, respectively.
  3. Contains vitamin B6 and B12, which are important for nerve function and DNA synthesis.
  4. Because venison is so lean, it may not be the best source of fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin D and vitamin E.

Wild Kangaroo:

  1. Low in fat
  2. High-quality protein
  3. Rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamin B12, iron, and zinc
  4. Good source of omega-3 fatty acids
  5. Contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which has been shown to have health benefits such as reducing inflammation and supporting immune function
  6. Good source of selenium and phosphorus

Lamb’s Green Tripe:

  1. High-quality protein
  2. Good source of probiotics, which can help support digestive health
  3. Contains digestive enzymes, which can help dogs better absorb nutrients from their food
  4. Good source of calcium and phosphorus, which are important for bone health
  5. Rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamin B12, iron, and zinc
  6. Low in fat
  7. Contains amino acids that are important for muscle growth and repair

Kangaroo Liver and Kidneys:

  1. High-quality protein
  2. Rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, vitamin B12, iron, and zinc
  3. Good source of selenium and phosphorus
  4. Kangaroo liver is a good source of vitamin A, which is important for vision, immune function, and healthy skin and coat
  5. Kangaroo kidneys are a good source of vitamin B12, which is important for the nervous system, red blood cell production, and DNA synthesis

Recommended feeding:

For Dogs: 20g per Kg of body weight. i.e. 5kg dog = 20 x 5 = 100g of food per day

For Puppies & Kittens:  Up to 18 months of age. 40g per 1Kg of body weight. i.e. 5 kg puppy = 40 x 5 = 200g of food per day.

Cats:  Approx. 200g per day

Every pet is unique and has different nutritional requirements, adjust feeding levels according to the activity levels and condition of your pet.

  • Cats like their meat blends at room temperature (“blood temperature”).  If meat blends are cold, add some boiled water to “warm” the meat.
  • Cats get their liquid from their meat, not usually from the water bowl.
  • Older cats need animal protein, not more carbohydrates, and fats.
